The Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms held a conference today, Monday, marking over a year since the aggression on Gaza, where participating figures condemned the ongoing Israeli crimes and violations of international law.
The conference opened with a speech from Insan’s Executive Director, Ibrahim Al-Wazir, who emphasized the need for enhanced international efforts to hold aggressors accountable and highlighted the importance of fostering humanitarian values through solidarity and support for the people of Gaza.
In his address, Hamid Al-Rafiq, legal advisor to the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, stressed the importance of strengthening international laws to protect human rights and end crimes against civilians in Gaza.
Foreign activists also joined the conference online, including human rights advocate Stephen Bell from the United Kingdom and activist Ludita Ali from the United States, both expressing support and solidarity with the Palestinian people. They underscored the urgent need for international action, particularly from United Nations institutions, to save what can still be saved in Gaza.
Dr. Majdi Azzam delivered a speech reflecting the voice and ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people, noting that the inaction of various governments will not weaken Palestinians' resolve to liberate all Palestinian territories.
Ambassador Nabil Al-Ghoul, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, concluded the conference by stressing the importance of international solidarity in addressing violations, achieving justice, and resisting American pressures that provide political cover for the Israeli occupation.
The conference also shed light on Gaza's dire humanitarian conditions with a display of documentary photos and videos revealing the atrocities committed by the occupying entity in Gaza. The Insan Organization awarded the Palestinian people a “Shield of Resilience” in recognition of their courage and steadfastness against Israeli violence. Dr. Majdi Azzam accepted the shield on behalf of the Palestinian community, representing the people of Gaza.
