The Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms strongly condemns the horrific crime committed by U.S. warplanes on the evening of Thursday, April 17, 2025, targeting Ras Issa Port in Hodeidah Province with four airstrikes at 10:00 PM. The attack resulted in the martyrdom of 17 civilians and dozens of injuries among port workers, according to preliminary reports—adding yet another crime to the growing list of violations against innocent civilians and civilian infrastructure in Yemen.
Additionally, U.S. aircraft carried out five more airstrikes on the capital, Sana’a, and Al-Bayda Governorate, causing extensive damage to property and endangering civilian lives. These actions constitute a blatant violation of international conventions and treaties that prohibit targeting civilian objects and non-combatants.
The Insan Organization affirms that these airstrikes represent a flagrant breach of Article 25 of the 1907 Hague Convention, and Articles 13 and 14 of the Second Additional Protocol to the Geneva Conventions. They also violate Article 8 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, which classifies such acts as war crimes warranting accountability.
The continued escalation by the United States against the Yemeni people poses a serious threat to regional peace and security and reflects a willful disregard for international humanitarian law amid disgraceful global silence.
Accordingly, we at the Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms hold the United States fully responsible for these crimes and call upon the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to act immediately to halt this aggression and to launch a transparent, independent international investigation to hold perpetrators accountable and ensure they do not escape justice.
We also renew our call for urgent support to the victims and their families and for concerted efforts to end the suffering of the Yemeni people and uphold their legitimate rights to life, dignity, and security.
