The "Insan" Organization for Rights and Freedoms strongly condemns the military attacks carried out by American and Israeli forces against the Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, in the early hours of Sunday, June 22, 2025. The organization considers this assault a grave violation of international law, the United Nations Charter, and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). It is also a serious escalation that threatens both regional and global security.
Targeting active nuclear facilities—especially those with civilian or research purposes—constitutes an extremely dangerous precedent in international relations and undermines all efforts aimed at ensuring the peaceful use of nuclear energy and controlling nuclear proliferation.
Moreover, these attacks expose civilians and the environment to significant risks due to the sensitivity of radioactive materials that could leak as a result of the bombing.
The organization believes that the attacks on Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan cannot be separated from the accelerating trajectory of escalation in the region following the Israeli aggression against Iran. It sees this as a reckless move that could open the door to a full-scale war that would not remain confined to the region but is likely to expand into an international confrontation threatening global peace as a whole.
"Insan" warns of the consequences of this military approach, which bypasses legal and diplomatic norms, deepens mistrust and division in the international system, and encourages unpredictable reactions from multiple actors. This puts civilians in the region at imminent risk and creates a state of chaos that will be difficult to contain.
The organization calls on the international community—including the UN Security Council and the United Nations—to act immediately to halt the escalation, launch an independent investigation into the circumstances of the attack, and press for a return to dialogue as the only viable path to addressing nuclear and regional disputes.
"Insan" concludes its statement by affirming that peace is not built through bombing or force, but through respect for sovereignty, adherence to international law, and prioritizing diplomacy over the logic of war.
