Shelling of Civilian Homes in Taiz: A War Crime Targeting Children

Condemnation | 12-07-2025

The “Insan” Organization for Rights and Freedoms strongly condemns and denounces the artillery shelling carried out by Armed factions affiliated with the so-called Presidential Council on civilian homes in Al-Ta’iziyah District, Taiz Governorate, on Friday, July 11, 2025. This attack tragically resulted in the death of five children after they were directly targeted by an artillery shell.

The Insan Organization followed this incident with deep sorrow. It occurred in Jabal Al-Arsoom, Jabal Al-Habeel, in Al-Ta’iziyah District, where armed factions affiliated with the internationally recognized Yemeni government fired artillery shells at the homes of peaceful civilians, leading to the death of five innocent children from the area.

The organization stresses that such actions—deliberately targeting and killing civilians uninvolved in any conflict—constitute a war crime and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law. This necessitates the immediate prosecution and accountability of those responsible, The organization calls on the international community to fulfill its role by investigating the crime, pursuing the perpetrators, bringing them to justice, and ensuring accountability and justice for the victims.
