Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms expresses its strong condemnation and denunciation of the deliberate attack carried out by the Israeli occupation forces, which resulted in the killing of journalist Ali Shuaib, correspondent for Al-Manar TV, and Fatima Ftouni, correspondent for Al-Mayadeen TV, along with her brother, a cameraman, following an airstrike that targeted their vehicle in the Jezzine area in southern Lebanon.
The organization affirms that this deliberate targeting constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, particularly the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols, which guarantee the protection of civilians, including journalists, during armed conflicts.
This attack represents a serious violation of press freedom, human values, and international laws and conventions that ensure the protection of media workers.
Insan Organization points out that journalists convey the truth to the public and perform their professional duties under extremely dangerous conditions, and that targeting them is unacceptable and condemnable under any circumstances, and cannot be justified in any way.
The organization believes that the continuation of such Israeli violations comes amid the silence of the international community and its failure to take firm and deterrent positions against the crimes committed, which encourages their repetition, undermines the international justice system, and weakens the protection of civilians in conflict zones.
Insan Organization also calls for the opening of an independent and transparent international investigation into this incident, in a manner that ensures holding those responsible accountable, achieving justice for the victims, and preventing the recurrence of such grave violations.
The organization renews its call on the international community to exert pressure on Israel to ensure its full compliance with international humanitarian law, respect for the sanctity of civilians, and the protection of journalists and humanitarian workers.
