The Israeli Entity Continues Its Policy of Systematic Destruction and Genocide in Southern Lebanon

Condemnation | 29-07-2026

Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms strongly condemns the crimes committed by the Israeli entity against southern Lebanon, including the systematic and ongoing destruction of villages and civilian property, the bulldozing of agricultural lands, the uprooting of trees, and the desecration of cemeteries. These acts constitute a flagrant violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, which prohibit attacks on civilian objects and oblige parties to armed conflicts to respect and protect civilians and their property.

The destruction of Lebanese villages and the erasure of their humanitarian and historical landmarks around the clock cannot be justified under any military pretext. Rather, it constitutes a crime that requires international legal accountability.

The bulldozing and desecration of cemeteries also represent a grave violation of human dignity and the sanctity of the deceased, reflecting a dangerous escalation in targeting everything that symbolizes people's identity and their connection to their land and history.

What southern Lebanon is witnessing today exposes the depth of the Israeli entity's moral and legal deterioration. It has not limited its attacks to human lives, but has extended its crimes to stones, trees, and the collective memory of peoples, in a manner reminiscent of the scorched-earth policies prohibited under international law.

The Organization expresses its profound condemnation of the Arab, regional, international, and United Nations silence regarding these ongoing crimes. Remaining silent in the face of the systematic destruction of villages and civilian objects is not a neutral position; rather, it contributes to entrenching a culture of impunity and encourages the continuation and expansion of such violations.

The double standards adopted by the international community in dealing with victims of armed conflicts represent a serious moral and legal failure. The value of human life and the protection of human rights must not vary according to a person's identity or geographical location. Nor should humanitarian principles become selective slogans that disappear whenever the perpetrator is the Israeli entity.

Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms calls upon the United Nations, the international community, and the relevant international mechanisms to take immediate and urgent action to halt these crimes, conduct independent and transparent international investigations into the violations committed against civilians and civilian objects in southern Lebanon, hold those responsible accountable in accordance with international law, and ensure that they do not enjoy impunity.

The destruction of villages, the uprooting of trees, the bulldozing of cemeteries, and the targeting of the foundations of human life are crimes that the world's silence will never erase. They will remain enduring evidence of the international community's failure to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities unless concrete and decisive measures are taken to protect civilians and bring these grave violations to an end.
