Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms strongly condemns the dangerous statements made by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, in which he called for carrying out widespread assassination operations in the Gaza Strip and killing dozens of civilians every day, in addition to calling for the displacement of Palestinians from the Strip and the re-establishment of Israeli settlements there.
The organization considers these statements an open incitement to mass killing and the targeting of Palestinian civilians. They expose a political mindset that treats the lives of civilians as expendable numbers, in blatant violation of the right to life and the most basic principles of international humanitarian law.
The organization warns of the grave danger posed by such calls being made amid the continued Israeli military operations and the large number of civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip. It stresses that a call to kill dozens of people every night cannot be dismissed as merely political rhetoric, but must instead be regarded as incitement warranting accountability and an international investigation.
Insan Organization affirms that the continued issuance of such inflammatory statements by Israeli officials, without effective international deterrent measures, encourages impunity, paves the way for further crimes and violations against Palestinian civilians, and undermines what remains of the international justice system.
The organization calls on the International Criminal Court and relevant international mechanisms to take seriously inciting statements issued by Israeli officials, investigate their possible connection to acts committed on the ground, and refuse to allow incitement to kill civilians and forcibly displace populations to become normalized political rhetoric.
The organization stresses that the lives of Palestinian civilians must not be used as material for electoral grandstanding or as a bargaining chip for political gains. Calling for the killing of dozens of people every day and the displacement of an entire people from their land constitutes a grave threat to international peace and security and requires a firm international response commensurate with the seriousness of such calls.
