In a horrifying incident that goes against human values, journalist Mujahid Al-Haiki, a resident of Al-Mukalla in southern Yemen, was subjected to a raid on his home and intimidation of his family by an armed group affiliated with the authorities in Al-Mukalla. This incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
Activists shared a video on their social media pages, showing the moment armed groups stormed house and entered his bedroom where he was present with his children and wife. They forcefully tried to apprehend him without allowing him to put on his clothes. The armed individuals fired shots inside the house, causing terror and fear among the residents, including children and women, in their secure residence.
The Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms considers the actions of the so-called Hadrami Elite Forces in carrying out such practices, raiding homes, and intimidating residents, particularly women and children, without legal justification or a court order, as a blatant violation of local laws and international legal norms, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and international conventions protecting all individuals. These actions are condemned as an assault on the right to life and freedom, as well as a violation of the sanctity of homes, which are considered safe havens for all civilians.
