Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms strongly condemns the hysterical U.S. airstrikes that targeted the capital Sana'a and the governorates of Al-Hodeidah and Al-Jawf on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. The 32 airstrikes resulted in the death of one person and a number of civilian injuries, including women and children, as an initial toll. They also caused widespread destruction in residential neighborhoods and infrastructure, in clear violation of international and humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and all international treaties and norms that prohibit targeting civilians.

These and other attacks that claim civilian victims and damage infrastructure clearly reflect the United States’ disregard in full view of the international community.

These criminal acts committed by the United States against civilians constitute an explicit breach of Article 3 of the 1949 Geneva Conventions, which stipulates the protection of civilians from attacks, and Article 147 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits attacks on civilian populations.

These airstrikes exacerbate the suffering of the Yemeni people and reflect the United States’ disregard for international laws and norms, placing the international community before an urgent ethical and legal responsibility.

Accordingly, we at Insan Organization call on the international community, the United Nations, and all humanitarian and human rights organizations to take a clear stance against this repeated aggression, act urgently to halt these airstrikes, hold the perpetrators accountable, and pressure the United States to fully comply with international law and protect innocent civilians.

The continued international silence in the face of this aggression will contribute to the worsening of the humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen and eliminate any chances for peace and stability in the region.
