The "Insan" Organization for Rights and Freedoms is following with deep concern the serious escalation in the region resulting from Israeli attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran and the recent developments, particularly the direct targeting of the Iranian Radio and Television building on Monday, June 16, 2025. The building suffered extensive destruction due to a treacherous Israeli airstrike, constituting a blatant violation of the most basic principles of international humanitarian law and established norms that prohibit targeting civilian infrastructure — foremost among them, media institutions.
The organization strongly condemns this assault, which not only constitutes an infringement on press freedom but also amounts to a full-fledged war crime against media and journalism professionals and the communities that rely on these institutions for access to truth and information.
Targeting media outlets is a systematic attempt to silence free voices, erase alternative narratives, and impose a singular viewpoint by force of arms.
Insan Organization affirms that the impunity of those responsible for such violations only encourages their recurrence and undermines the foundations of the international order based on accountability and justice.
The organization calls on all Arab and international media institutions, as well as organizations concerned with press freedom and human rights, to take a clear and unequivocal stance in condemning this outrageous attack and to express solidarity with journalists who are targeted simply for reporting the truth from the ground.
The organization also urges the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities in protecting journalists, ensuring that such crimes are not repeated, and pursuing accountability for the perpetrators through relevant international legal forums.
