The Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms strongly condemns, in the strongest terms, the American-Israeli attack that targeted the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the morning of Saturday, February 28, 2026.
What occurred constitutes a flagrant violation of state sovereignty and a clear breach of the principles and provisions of international law, foremost among them the United Nations Charter, which prohibits the use or threat of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.
The organization affirms that this aggressive conduct represents an extremely dangerous escalation, one that could drag the region—and indeed the world—into a comprehensive war with catastrophic consequences for international peace and security, particularly amid the accumulated tensions and intertwined crises facing the Middle East.
Any military action carried out outside the framework of international legitimacy, without explicit authorization from the United Nations Security Council or without reliance on a legitimate act of self-defense strictly governed by the conditions of international law, constitutes a dangerous precedent that undermines the foundations of the international order based on respect for state sovereignty and the peaceful settlement of disputes.
The Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms warns that the continuation of cross-border military strikes, without regard for the principles of proportionality and distinction enshrined in international humanitarian law, threatens to expand the scope of conflicts, exposes civilians and civilian infrastructure to grave risks, and undermines prospects for political and diplomatic solutions.
The organization calls upon the international community, United Nations bodies, the United Nations Human Rights Council, and all entities concerned with safeguarding global peace to assume their legal and moral responsibilities and to take urgent action to halt the military escalation, ensure respect for the rules of international law, and prevent the situation from sliding into an open confrontation whose consequences will spare no one.
The Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms reiterates that the protection of civilians, respect for state sovereignty, and adherence to international law are not political options, but binding legal and moral obligations for all parties without exception.
