The
undersigned human rights organizations, unions, institutions, and associations
warn
about
the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, where famine is annihilating
the lives
of
children, pregnant women, the elderly, and the sick. This crisis is the result
of the ongoing
blockade
imposed by Israeli occupation forces, which has prevented the entry of
humanitarian
and relief aid since March 2, 2025. This siege is leading to an imminent mass
death
in the Strip.
In
a double crime, on Sunday, July 20, 2025, the Israeli occupation army committed
a
massacre
on starving civilians by opening fire on them as they approached the road used
by
aid
trucks north of Gaza City. This resulted in the killing of 105 civilians and
the injury of
dozens
more. Thousands of civilians had headed to the Waha area in northwest Gaza in
search
of minimal food supplies for their families after flour and food ran out, based
on
reports
of available aid in the area.
It
is worth noting that Israeli occupation forces have killed 1,015 civilians who
were waiting
for
aid in distribution areas such as the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation”
and
locations
where aid and flour trucks enter. In addition, 6,200 civilians, including women
and
children,
were injured, and 72 people have been reported missing or forcibly disappeared
since
the opening of aid distribution centers on May 27, 2025.
This
crime, alongside other acts of genocide, forcible displacement, and deliberate
killings,
reveals
the scale of famine in Gaza. According to data, the famine now affects the
entire
population
of the Gaza Strip. There are 50,000 infants whose mothers are unable to
breastfeed
due to malnutrition. Over 70,000 children are suffering from severe
malnutrition,
and
around 60,000 pregnant women are experiencing hunger and dehydration, 11,000 of
whom
are in critical condition and face direct threats to life.
The
daily per capita water share has dropped by 100%, and 99% of the population is
experiencing
severe food insecurity. About 100 Palestinians, including 42 children, have
died
due
to severe malnutrition.
Analysis
by independent human rights organizations, which have documented 67,920 deaths
(including
those presumed dead under rubble), shows that according to Ministry of Health
records:
-20,170 children
-14,355 women
This
means 31% of the victims are children, and 20% are women.
There
are also 42,620 orphans.
Analysis
of deaths and injuries indicates that about 10% of the population has been
either
killed,
injured, disappeared, or detained. There are 4,700 detainees and victims of
enforced
disappearance.
Among those killed are:
-229 journalists
-115 civil defense workers
-157 doctors
-366 nurses
-2,140 injured medical personnel
Accordingly,
the undersigned organizations demand the following:
Immediate
action to stop the threat of mass famine in Gaza, as this is a legal and .1
humanitarian
obligation that cannot be delayed.
2.Appeal to the international community, the United
Nations, and all states party to the
Geneva
Conventions to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities and urgently:
-Stop acts of genocide and grave violations against
civilians.
-Open all crossings permanently and unconditionally for
humanitarian aid.
-Guarantee the safety and freedom of operation for UN
agencies and
international
and local humanitarian organizations, and ensure full protection
for
humanitarian workers.
Cease
all military and logistical support contributing to ongoing crimes, including
reviewing
the joint aid transfer mechanism between the United States and Israel, which
has been used for oppressive and eliminationism practices.
3. Refer the file of crimes committed in Gaza to the
International Criminal Court
without
delay, and activate the principle of universal jurisdiction to prosecute
those
responsible.
4. Establish an independent, credible international
fact-finding commission
under
the mandate of the Human Rights Council to investigate crimes and
violations
and ensure accountability and non-impunity.
5. Impose immediate and effective international sanctions
on the Israeli
occupation
government, including an arms embargo, suspension of cooperation
agreements,
and holding accountable the states that provide material or
political
support for these crimes.
6. Protect the civilian population in Gaza under Chapter
VII of the UN Charter,
including
taking deterrent measures to stop the aggression and ensure the safe
and
dignified return of displaced persons.
We
remind the international community that silence or inaction in the face of
these
crimes is not only a moral failure but also an implicit complicity—especially
by
states that use the veto to shield the occupying and apartheid state from
condemnation
and punishment for its crimes.
