Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms welcomes the United Nations’ decision to place Israel on the blacklist of parties responsible for conflict-related sexual violence. The organization considers this step an important acknowledgment of the gravity of the violations suffered by Palestinian civilians in the context of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.
The organization emphasizes that the sexual violations against Palestinian detainees documented in recent UN reports represent part of a broader reality that requires independent and comprehensive investigations to uncover the truth and hold those responsible for these crimes accountable in accordance with international law.
The organization also condemns the targeting of human rights institutions, journalists, and individuals involved in documentation and monitoring activities, as such actions constitute attempts to obstruct efforts to expose violations and prevent victims from accessing justice.
Insan Organization calls on the international community, the United Nations, and relevant international mechanisms to move forward with legal accountability measures, conduct independent and transparent international investigations into all Israeli violations, work toward the immediate release of Palestinian detainees, and ensure their protection while safeguarding their dignity and fundamental human rights.
