Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms welcomes the signing of the final lists related to the prisoner and detainee exchange agreement between the Sana’a government and the internationally recognized Yemeni government. The agreement was signed in the Jordanian capital, Amman, based on the Stockholm Agreement and the agreement concluded in the Sultanate of Oman in December 2025.
The organization also welcomes the completion of the negotiation round and the signing of exchange lists involving 1,100 prisoners and detainees from the Sana’a government side and 580 from the other side, including Saudi and Sudanese prisoners, in preparation for the implementation of the agreement following the completion of procedures by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The organization expresses its appreciation for the efforts made by the United Nations envoy, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and all parties and entities that contributed to the achievement of this humanitarian agreement, which represents an important step toward alleviating the suffering of prisoners, detainees, and their families, as well as strengthening humanitarian trust between the Yemeni parties.
Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms affirms that the issue of prisoners and detainees remains one of the most significant humanitarian files requiring continued efforts and serious endeavors to secure the release of all detainees, thereby helping to end the suffering of thousands of Yemeni families and creating a conducive atmosphere for broader steps toward peace and stability.
