On the second day of Eid al-Adha, while Palestinian families were trying to hold on to what remained of the holiday atmosphere amid war and blockade, an Israeli airstrike turned a residential apartment in central Gaza into a horrific scene of bloodshed. Israeli warplanes targeted the densely populated building, leaving ten people dead, including two children and two women, in addition to dozens of injured civilians.

According to medical sources and eyewitnesses, powerful explosions rocked the area, followed by thick clouds of smoke and the cries of residents rushing to pull victims from beneath the rubble. Moments of celebration quickly turned into grief and shock among the local population.

The Israeli bombardment comes amid ongoing escalation in Gaza over the past few hours, with the death toll rising to more than twenty Palestinians within less than forty-eight hours, raising growing fears of a return to large-scale military operations and the collapse of the ceasefire agreement signed in Sharm El-Sheikh.
