Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms strongly condemns the demolition by Israeli occupation forces of an entire residential neighborhood in the Bint Jbeil district of southern Lebanon. This dangerous escalation constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and threatens to widen the cycle of violence while undermining de-escalation efforts in the region.
Targeting residential neighborhoods and destroying civilian property cannot be justified under any pretext. Such actions constitute a violation of the principles of distinction and proportionality enshrined in international law, placing civilians and their property at grave risk and further deepening humanitarian suffering.
The organization affirms that the continuation of military operations inside Lebanese territory, despite ceasefire understandings, constitutes a violation of Lebanese sovereignty and undermines prospects for stability. This situation requires immediate international action to halt these violations and hold those responsible accountable.
Insan Organization calls upon the United Nations, the Security Council, and all relevant international bodies to uphold their legal and moral responsibilities by acting urgently to protect civilians, halt the attacks, ensure respect for the rules of international humanitarian law, and end the policy of impunity that encourages the Israeli occupation to continue repeating such violations.
